August 2019

I hope everyone is enjoying these final weeks of summer!  Soak in the sun, enjoy the beach, ride a bike, go for a swim, have an ice cream cone - just get out there and make the most of the beautiful weather and time with family!  Before you know it, it will be that time again to think about getting back to school - teacher assignments, school supplies, new backpacks, school clothes and all of those exciting things a new school year brings!

I just wanted to take a few moments to reintroduce myself, my name is Jodi Christopher and I will be returning as the PTA President at Nut Swamp Elementary School for the 2019-2020 school year.  As a parent going into my tenth and final year at Nut Swamp, I can truly say that it is a remarkable place for our children. Creating a safe, comfortable, creative and academic environment has always been a top priority of the administrators, teachers and staff.   Every year brings something new and exciting and I can’t wait for this one to get started!

With the support of our families and community, Nut Swamp has one of the strongest PTA’s around.  Our goals have always been focused on what is best for our children and our school. We work closely with the principal, teachers and staff to align programs with curriculum, stay current with educational trends, provide supplemental activities to enrich our children’s experience while at Nut Swamp, provide social events to create a stronger community and to keep parents informed.  Last year we worked closely with Nut Swamp staff to roll out our Pawsitivity program to promote kindness and respect through positive words and actions, while also appreciating our own strengths and self-worth. The program was an overwhelming success and we look forward to continuing this year with new monthly themes, messages of encouragement and enrichment programs to reinforce the Nut Swamp message of kindness and respect to others and yourself.

The PTA will kick off the school year with the Back to School Picnic on 9/22 from 2-5:00 pm on the playground with a DJ, snacks and games.  On 10/4, we will be holding our 4th annual Color Run. Please come out and enjoy fun with friends and families!

Our PTA can not exist without the help of our Nut Swamp families, there are so many ways you can get involved.  Choose the one that is best for you. Your participation in the PTA, whether it is attending PTA meetings or joining a committee, is a valuable addition to your child’s Nut Swamp experience. Please become a member of our PTA and sign up to volunteer.  Not only will you be able to help out and enjoy PTA sponsored events, you will also receive weekly PTA Newsletters full of information on upcoming events and district matters, as well as access to the school directory Membership toolkit.
