Attention: 5th Grade Parents and Students
Nut Swamp Broadcasting Channel Returns
We are happy to announce the re-launch of the Nut Swamp Broadcasting Channel (CNSB). CNSB broadcasts the morning announcements, weather, sports, and today in history. It’s a wonderful program that allows the fifth grade students to participate in different aspects of preparing a televised news program; including operating a camera, researching and preparing a news story, and anchoring a segment. The newscast is recorded and later broadcast in all of the classrooms.
CNSB will launch on Monday, October 6th and run through the end of the year. Once the number of interested students is determined we will know how many opportunities each child will have and a schedule will be created. That said, all interested 5th graders will be able to participate at least one week during the school year.
Students have to commit to arrive at school by 8:00AM to tape the daily broadcast. The anchors will be required to ensure their portion of the segment is prepared in advance, i.e. weather, sports, this day in history, etc. The broadcast requires five students, four anchors and one camera operator. Each child will rotate responsibilities throughout the week.
Additionally, we’ll need parent volunteers to help supervise the children during the broadcast. We’ll need parents that are able to commit to coming in at 8:00AM for one week on a rotating schedule.
If your child is interested in participating and/or you can volunteer, please click on the following link and complete the form no later than September 30th.
